An evening stroll

Sammy and I have been going for strolls in our neighborhood every evening after dinner; by this time in the day, the heat has abated to a point where I don't feel as though I'm going to spontaneously combust.  It also helps that the sunsets are pretty spectacular out here.

It's amazing how the evening light can totally effect the appearance of the Franklin Mountains; during the day they are starkly arid and devoid of any signs of life but in that magical hour when the sun begins its descent, they transform into something magical and otherworldly rising from the desert.

It's still a bit of a culture shock living here--not a lot of trees, yards largely devoid of grass--but I can't help but appreciate the beauty in all of the differences, like a blooming cactus in one of my neighbor's yards:

I'm pretty sure I'm well on my way to becoming known as that crazy lady who walks around with her camera all of the time. I can live with that.

Just gorgeous, love those sunset pics. We take out walks in the early morning or late evening, too.

I love the different wonders of creation and that cactus is a perfect example of the variety we have here on Earth. I miss the mountains too! I can only see trees here so that would be a nice change of scenery! You seem so adaptable Laura and have such a great attitude through all of your changes. You are such an inspiring gal you know that right??

I'm glad to see that Sammy has otherwise recovered from his recent spill, and that you are embracing the move that you had been dreading.
