Out in the west Texas town of El Paso

My mom and I have spent the past few days in El Paso, Texas, which is where my family is going to be relocating to in just a few weeks. This trip was mostly business as I had two and a half days to find a house to rent, but my mom and I managed to squeeze in some pleasure here and there between looking at potential rental properties. We opted to take the Trans-Mountain Freeway, i.e. the scenic route, back to our hotel after some viewings and stopped to take some photos along the way.

I'll be honest--the scenery is a bit overwhelming in all of its, um, brown-ness (especially coming from the northeast, where green is the predominant color), but the blue, blue skies and nearly limitless vistas are beautiful in their own way.  It's just a different kind of beauty that's going to take some getting used to, but I think I'll be able to adapt.

Brown as far as the eye can see! I think that was one of the most difficult parts for me being from the midwest, I missed the color green. I won't tell you about the other difficult parts that ran across my living room floor one day.

El Paso, eh?!? It will take some getting use to, but I have faith, as a fellow Texan you can! If you need green...take a trip to EAST Texas. You'll get your fix, I promise. Happy transitioning.

I am LOVING all of your photography too. I flew into El Paso on my way to my parents New Mexico home and I wish I could have snapped more pics. You are right...it has a beauty all its own.

Those are fantastic shots. I love the texture one. You are going to go nuts with all of the new scenery. It will take getting used to, but out looks beautiful. :)

L, I really love that last photo - you perfectly capture the grittiness of the landscape.
