Cloth diaper confessions

I have a dirty little secret--I use a disposable diaper on Sammy every night.  Don't get me wrong, I love my fuzzi bunz and they kick butt on a daily basis.  But after Sammy turned five months old, they weren't holding up so well at night (Sammy's apparently a super soaker).  I was stuffing his cloth diapers with as many inserts that could fit and even tried putting those rubber pants over top of them, but to no avail--he was waking up, soaking wet, at 3 am every. single. night.  I was at my wit's end--I had gotten used to actually sleeping through the night and to go back to waking up two or three times was hell on wheels.  However, it wasn't until Sammy and I went to New Jersey to visit with family that I discovered the solution to my problem; since I didn't have access to a washer or dryer during our trip, I opted for disposable diapers.  Guess what?  Sammy didn't wake up once in the night the entire trip.  Once we were back home I continued using the disposables at night and Sammy was back to his old sleeping pattern, but I honestly felt a little guilty using the disposables--mostly because I wondered if I hadn't tried hard enough to find a cloth alternative that would work for us.  I talked to a couple of other cloth-diapering moms for advice and was surprised to see that nearly all of them had run across the same issue and were also using disposables at night.  My guilt quickly evaporated and I haven't looked back since; Sammy's sleeping better, I'm sleeping better, what's not to like?

I have disposables around for emergencies, like blizzards and hurricanes. When we were leaking at night,we wrapped a flip insert in a prefold and it worked great. Both my kids were/are heavy wetters too. Whatever works for you though! :) You are still saving money and loads of diapers from land fills!

I do the same thing! My kids soak through the cloth every night, and I would feel bad because I would have them wrapped up so big in all the inserts that they looked like they got off saddle!

Im the same. Drake sleeps in this sleep suit (its called the Merlin magic Sleep Suit and it is magic!) as well so diaper changes are a nightmare at night and with cloth he would soak through everything including the suit and trust me after a few midnight frantic panic attackes where we needed to wash and dry his suit and try to get him to go back to sleep without it we said forget it use disposables at night and have never had an issue since...we also bought another suit to avoid those issues too lol

Oh and Drake's aunt did his first haircut for us It was in late November

We do the same thing! Cloth during the day, sposies at night. Funny thing, Amelia wouldn't leak through the cloth at all, but after a few days she would get a rash unless I used disposables. I guess she couldn't take the wetness on her skin and I'm not about to mess with her finally sleeping through the night!

Are you using 7th generation at night? That's the only diaper N uses and we love it. :)

Don't be too hard on yourself, you are CDing for the most part and that is something to be REALLY proud of. :)
